Welcome to the Informal COS Journal Club
This is intended as an informal discussion group that meets one a week in
order to dicuss a recent publication in the field of Computation, Organization
and Society (COS).
WHEN: Each Thursday 5:15 PM
WHERE: 407 South Craig Street, CASOS conference room
SCHEDULE
The principle qualities of the group are intended as follows:
- Journal club format: By presenting other people's work instead of
our own, we can broaden our scopes and try to present to a COS audience, instead
of practicing talks aimed at our own micro-communities.
- Content: As diverse as possible. We're trying to get people from
other departments as well as COS; anything that can be plausibly
related to COS is fair game. Talks on individual papers, surveys of a
topic, or even talks on philosophy/methodology are welcome.
- Discussion: We would like to leave time for significant discussion
after the talk, especially aimed at elucidating what COS is, how the
things we're talking about fits into it, and which concepts are
generalizable to all of our work.
